This Week in NJ

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in my weekly breakdown.

Thursday morning, Newark Animal Save is hosting a vigil and outreach at American Halal Meats in Newark. This will be part of the #WakeUpWorld week, which is encouraging all vegan activists to bring one non-vegan with them to bear witness at a local vigil.

On Thursday, Hip Hop is Green (NJ chapter) is hosting a family cookout fundraiser in Newark at the awesome vegan restaurants, The Zucchini Bar and Blueberry Cafe, which are by the same owners, so you can expect amazing food from both! You can find more information about Hip Hop is Green NJ events by keeping up with them on Facebook and Instagram.

On Friday, the NYC chapter of Anonymous for the Voiceless is hosting a Cube of Truth in Washington Square Park.

On Saturday, The Vegetarian Society of South Jersey is hosting a vegan potluck in Historic Smithville Park. They host quite a few events in Southern NJ. Keep up with them via their Facebook page!

Also on Saturday is The Official Animal Rights March of 2018 in NYC. There are several march locations, all happening on different days, with some great speakers and of course, the march! Draw up your best signs, wear your loudest vegan t-shirt and march alongside of like-minded activists while the crowd grabs the attention of bystanders that try and get a glimpse of what's happening. You can see the other locations of marches and shop their ethically made t-shirts on their website.

Saturday is the second of the month, which means Animals First on the Second is upon us again. If you've never heard of this, that's okay, now is a great time to start! We fast on the second of every month, mark an "x" inside a circle on our hands and the conversations will come to you. Learn more about what this all is and why this was started on the AFOTS website, including information on how to get started and participate.

If you aren't fasting on the second, Vegan in NJ is hosting a meetup (I know, I know - poorly planned on my behalf, but after this one, we will be fasting on the second of every month and there will be no food meetups!) at Stewart's in Hazlet. If you missed last week's roundup, you might be wondering why we're going to Stewart's, but this specific Stewart's has an amazing vegan menu! You can find posts about it all over Facebook (especially in our group - just search for it!). Please RSVP using the Facebook event, so we can make sure there is space set aside for you with us! As is every Sunday, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 4:00 and 5:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com.

Thank you to those who came here via the Try Vegan email blast! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can learn more about the Try Vegan empire via their meal delivery (use that link for a free meal!), their food truck, or their clothing line!
