This Week in NJ

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in my weekly breakdown.

On Thursday, in Collingswood at Tortilla Press, they are doing another vegan night! The menu looks amazing with options like Fried Artichokes with a Mexican Remoulade Sauce and Seitan BBQ Brisket Tacos. I've been seeing these every few months-ish, so hopefully the better they do, the more often they will host these awesome vegan nights! I highly recommend, if you have not been yet. They also have a few regular vegan menu items including soy chorizo and mock duck on the lunch menu. They're located right on Haddon Ave in Collingswood, a few doors down from The Pop Shop, which also has a vegan friendly menu.

On Friday, the NYC/Manhattan chapter of Anonymous for the Voiceless is hosting a Cube of Truth in Washington Square Park.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of this weekend, Berkeley Heights Environmental Commission will be hosting its own Vegan Fest! Friday will be Yoga & Tai Chi at The Grove Park, Saturday will have Educational Panels (featuring NJveg), and Sunday will have a Vegan Cook Off which will have judges from the Berkeley Heights Environmental Commission, the mayor, Jake Blochinger of Montclair Vegan, and King El of La Vodega Market in Hoboken.

Washington DC is hosting its annual DC VegFest on Saturday from 11-6 at The Yards Park. You can find their vendor list on the website, including some favorites like Vegan Treats, Yeah Dawg!!!, Compassion Company, Fanciful Fox, and Teeminder.

The Vegetarian Society of South Jersey (VSSJ) is hosting a lecture series on going vegetarian at Burlington County Library in Bordentown on Saturday.

Vegan in NJ (hey, that's us!) will be hosting the first of a series of potlucks all over the state. This one will be in Morristown on Saturday. You must RSVP through the Facebook group in order to receive the address. The link will lead to an event that you cannot view unless you are a member of the group.

NJveg will be doing outreach in Highland Park on Sunday. They will answer questions and provide free literature on the benefits of a plant-based diet. Please contact them via their website, at njveg.org@gmail.com, or by calling 609-557-7077 to become part of their outreach team. The event is 11:30-4:30 and they would love volunteers to help them set up and take down. View their other events here.

Every Sunday, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 4:00 and 5:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com.

Vegan in NJ events scheduled (must be a member of the Facebook group to view):

Thank you to those who came here via the Try Vegan email blast! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can learn more about the Try Vegan empire via their meal delivery (use that link for a free meal!), their food truck, or their clothing line!
