This Week in NJ

Writer: Cherise Daly (she/her)Cherise Daly (she/her)

Vegan in NJ has started a Patreon page and we would love it if you could donate any amount you could. We will be working on setting up tiers as time goes on, but for right now, you will just get access to our feed, where we will be working through ideas and events we plan to host in the future. This will be a great place for you to have your voice heard about how we can make NJ the most vegan friendly place it can be!

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in my weekly breakdown.

This week might be a little quiet, but this weekend is anything but! There's so many pre-Thanksgiving events happening! Be on the lookout for next week's blog with Thanksgiving events, but feel free to head over to the events page to get planning your week. There's a lot of options all over the state. If you're not already, follow us on Instagram because we're posting a lot of Thanksgiving and holiday menus from caterers and restaurants all over!

Om Sweet Home is hosting a 3 course Friendsgiving meal at Celebrate Life Studio in Hoboken on Friday. The menu has not been announced yet, but you can keep posted by following their Facebook event page. Tickets are limited!

So many colleges and universities have vegan/vegetarian clubs now! Rutgers Veg Society is throwing a cruelty free product party on Friday from 1pm to 3pm in the Livingston Student Center. You can pick up some vegan makeup wipes, dental floss, chocolates, coupons, and more!

In Freehold, at Beacon Yoga Studio, on Friday, there will be a Thanksgiving potluck - completely vegan! Please RSVP to beaconyoganj@gmail.com and send them the recipe you will be making, as they will be compiling a holiday recipe book that will be available for purchase.

Saturday, we've come together with NJveg to host an all vegan potluck in Pemberton. We're asking for everyone to bring a dish and comment on the pinned post with what you are bringing. The address will be sent out in a Facebook message to all who have responded as attending before the event. Hope to meet some of you there!

Sea Shepherd NY is hosting a beach cleanup in Sandy Hook on Sunday. They will be providing the bags and work gloves needed. You can email nyc@seashepherd.org to obtain more information.

Sunday is the NJ VegFest return to Morristown for another vegan pop up! We will be hosting a meetup at 3pm, so don't worry if you're not wanting to show up alone. Pick up some food and come meet everyone over at the Vegan in NJ sign. We're all about making new vegan friends (and eating lots of delicious vegan food)! There's some VegFest favorites like Samosa Shack and Yeah Dawg, but there's a lot of newcomers like Beenie's Ice Cream, Pierogies House, Minus the Moo, Verrilli's Pizza, Lisette Art, and more!

If you're more of a Brooklyn person, don't worry - VGN MKT is also hosting a vegan pop up at Market Hotel in Brooklyn! Seitan's Helper, Root 9 Baking Co, The Baklava Lady, Miz Magical, and several others will be there. VGN MKT vendors are always completely vegan all of the time (not just for the day of the pop up).

Conscious Cooks will be hosting a fall harvest cooking class on Monday at the Iron Room in Atlantic City. According to their Facebook event, "In each class we prepare plant-based healthy and delicious meals. We make everything from scratch, and while we’re cooking we discuss the nutritional benefits of the ingredients, share healthy cooking tips, and answer questions from the group." They also indicate you'll receive all of the recipes and to come hungry because you will actually be eating all of the recipes created!

Every Sunday, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 4:00 and 5:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com.

Vegan in NJ events scheduled (must be a member of the Facebook group to view private events):

Thank you to those who came here via the Try Vegan email blast! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can learn more about the Try Vegan empire via their meal delivery (use that link for a free meal!), their food truck, or their clothing line!
