This Week in NJ

Vegan in NJ has started a Patreon page and we would love it if you could donate any amount you could. We will be working on setting up tiers as time goes on, but for right now, you will just get access to our feed, where we will be working through ideas and events we plan to host in the future. This will be a great place for you to have your voice heard about how we can make NJ the most vegan friendly place it can be!

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in my weekly breakdown.

Vegan in NJ is raising money through Crowdrise for Skylands Animal Sanctuary. Thank you to everyone who donated at last Sunday's New Jersey VegFest vegan pop up, where we were accepting donations in person and signing people up for the 5k at the Atlantic City Vegan Food Festival in July - the reason for the fundraiser! We also have some new team members that can be found on our Crowdrise. If you are interested in signing up for the 5k and donating/joining our team to fundraise, please send me an email for your discount code for the race and proof of donation/team sign up! Proceeds from our apparel, which are available with our official design (thanks Lisette!) are available on Teespring!

Monday, February 25th will be the Vegan Mac Throwdown at VSPOT Organic. Billed as "The hot-n-creamiest vegan Mac 'n Cheese competition", the contest will star vegan mac from chefs from all over the area. This Winter to Spring transition is definitely leaving a strong craving for some pasta!

On Thursday, February 28th, Black Vegfest brings us Chef Mike vs Omowale at the ITAL Kitchen in Brooklyn. This even starts at 7:00pm and a limited number of tickets can be purchased here.

We kick off the weekend (Friday, March 1st) with the Long Island Vegan Drag Show Fundraiser. Taking place at NuBar in Long Island, this event will be hosted by Honey LaBronx, The Vegan Drag Queen, and will benefit the Long Island Farm Sanctuary.

Sunday, March 3rd, is a great day to be Vegan and there are plenty of opportunities across the area to participate in!

The Vegan Chub will be hosting a Sunday brunch at Kitchen 19 in Hammonton. Featuring a delicious all vegan brunch buffet, and including coffee, tea & juice. Family style seating with two times to choose from: 11 am or 1 pm. Tickets are available here.

The Philly Vegan Pop Up Market will be hosting their Sprung for Spring Vendor Market from 1p-5p at Tattooed Mom in the city. Admission is free and the vendor list looks amazing! I do spy The Baklava Lady as a vendor, and my sweet tooth is letting me know it.

Sunday also brings the Lady and the Shallot 5 Course Lunch. Vegan in NJ and NJVeg are hosting this event from 1p-4p, and it will be held at the Trenton Farmers Market in Lawrenceville. Tickets are available here. NJveg members will receive a $3 discount for this lunch. If you are a member, please select the correct option. If you select this option and are not a member, you will be refunded and must purchase another ticket. You can become a member by signing up at NJveg's membership page.

Wrapping up the weekend, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 3:00 and 4:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com. The Jersey City chapter meets at the Journal Square plaza at noon every Sunday. For donations, contact them via their Facebook page or at foodnotbombsjc@gmail.com.
