Our monthly volunteer day at Skylands Animal Sanctuary will take place on Wednesday! We are full for our volunteer list, but keep your eyes on our Facebook Group when we announce openings for future months! Click the image below to see more of Vegan in NJ for Skylands Animal Sanctuary.
On Saturday, the 29th, join the Rahway River Watershed Association, the Central Jersey Stream Team, the Rahway Library and the Rahway Environmental Commission to help clean up the Rahway River. This year they will be tackling the area just upstream from the Milton Ave Bridge. No registration is required and all ages are welcome. Please wear a long sleeved shirt, and long pants you won't mind getting dirty or wet. High boots or waders will also be appreciated. Bags and gloves will be provided. Meet in back of Rahway Public Library, 2 City Hall Plaza, Rahway, NJ 07065 at 9:30AM. Lunch provided for volunteers after the clean up.
The Philly Vegan Popup Flea Market is turning 3 this weekend! Join them in celebration at the Friends Center in Philadelphia on Saturday! Admission is free and the first 50 attendees will receive a free tote bag. Some of our favorite vendors: The Baklava Lady, House of Cork, and Live Decent are scheduled to be in attendance, so come out and support!
Cafe Diem and Silverton Fams will be hosting a Farm to Table Dinner Experience on Saturday. Join Farmer Tom for a sunset stroll through his family's picturesque organic farm. Then, enjoy a 4-course vegan dinner, including a cooking demo, in the rustic & romantic dining room at Silverton Farms. Dessert tasting will be provided by Mollie Mack's Vegan Cakery. There will be a 6pm BYO cocktail hour, which is optional, and the farm tour will start at 7 followed by the cooking demo & dinner. Space is limited. $65/person. Tickets can be purchased in store or here.
Anonymous for the Voiceless's Cube of Truth is a peaceful static demonstration akin to an art performance. AV is going all out this weekend with THREE different demonstrations. One will be held Saturday in Jersey City and two will be held on Sunday in Queens and Haddonfield (Camden County). These demonstrations operate in a structured manner that triggers curiosity and interest from the public; we attempt to lead bystanders to a vegan conclusion through a combination of local standard-practice animal exploitation footage and conversations with a value-based sales approach. Masks, signs, and outreach literature are provided. Black upper clothing appropriate for the weather is essential, and please bring a fully charged laptop or tablet if you have one. Interested volunteers should join this Facebook group for the Jersey City chapter, this group for the Queens chapter, and this group for the Camden County chapter.
On Sunday afternoon, NJVeg will be hosting a lunch at Frenchtown Fresh and then a hike at Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail or a walk around town. They ask that you RSVP, so they can have an accurate headcount. More information can be found here.
Finally, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 5:00 and 6:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com. The Jersey City chapter meets at the Journal Square plaza at noon every Sunday. For donations, contact them via their Facebook page or at foodnotbombsjc@gmail.com.

We have started a Patreon page and we would love it if you could donate any amount you could. We will be working on setting up the tiers with more as time goes on, but for right now, you will get access to our feed, where we will be working through ideas and events we plan to host in the future, early blog posts, discount codes for events, and random merch an whatever we've got that we can send you! This will be a great place for you to have your voice heard about how we can make NJ the most vegan friendly place it can be. Proceeds from our Patreon will be going to maintain the website, brand, and afford us to be able to hire on more awesome vegans to help us on our journey to make NJ a vegan wonderland!
