This Week in NJ

**Our next Volunteer Day at Skylands will take place this Saturday. For sign-ups and more information, check out this link!**

Newark Animal Save will be holding a vigil this coming Thursday morning at American Halal Meat in Newark. Please come out to give love and support to the animals in their final hours. Whether you are giving love to animals arriving, bearing witness to slaughterhouse conditions, or outreaching to the public, the plan is to be there for the animals in their time of need.

The Rutgers Veg Society will be hosting a tour of the Barnyard Animal Sanctuary this coming Saturday. A lunch at Veggie Heaven in Denville will follow the tour.

A Monster Vegan Halloween Bash will go down this Saturday night in New York. Hosted by Vegged Out Events, this night will feature: Babiery Hernandez, an award winning Tattoo artist doing flash tattoos, Makeup Artist Jacqueline Helene doing 20 minute sessions of vegan Halloween make up, costume contests, a live DJ, and Vegan food and lifestyle vendors. Tickets can be purchased here; kids 13 and under are free!

A Fall Vegan Pop Up Market will take place at Blue Cork Winery and Vineyard in Williamstown on Saturday from 1p-6p. Blue Cork Wines are vegan (!!!), there will be plenty of vendors, and Gangster Vegan On the Go will be in attendance, selling deliciousness!

If you're on the shore Saturday, check out the Enjoy! Freedom Farm Fundraiser at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park. Join Enjoy! as they celebrate the release of a new original single. They will be performing a huge set of all your favorites. This is also a Fundraiser for Freedom Farm Animal Rescue (a vegan animal sanctuary in south Jersey) with a Vegan Market outside - including vendors such as Desired Dish, Butter Me Up, The Mexi-Boys, and more! This is an all ages, costume welcome, show and tickets are $5.

It’s that time again for NYC’s annual anti-fur march. NYC activists are working on a ban on fur, so it’s vital that this event has high numbers. With the date being close to Halloween, it’s a great opportunity to be super creative with your signs and bloody costumes. Meet up will take place at 1pm, at Union Square with the march stepping off at 1:30.

Anonymous for the Voiceless's Cube of Truth is a peaceful static demonstration akin to an art performance. Two demonstrations will take place on Sunday. One will be in Lehigh Valley and the other will be in Queens. These demonstrations operate in a structured manner that triggers curiosity and interest from the public; they attempt to lead bystanders to a vegan conclusion through a combination of local standard-practice animal exploitation footage and conversations with a value-based sales approach. Masks, signs, and outreach literature are provided. Black upper clothing appropriate for the weather is essential, and please bring a fully charged laptop or tablet if you have one. Interested in volunteering? Join this Facebook Group for Queens and this group for Lehigh Valley.

Finally, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 3:00 and 4:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com. The Jersey City chapter meets at the Journal Square plaza at noon every Sunday. For donations, contact them via their Facebook page or at foodnotbombsjc@gmail.com.

Vegan in NJ events scheduled (*must be a member of the Facebook group to view private events):

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in my weekly breakdown.

We have started a Patreon page and we would love it if you could donate any amount you could. We will be working on setting up the tiers with more as time goes on, but for right now, you will get access to our feed, where we will be working through ideas and events we plan to host in the future, early blog posts, discount codes for events, and random merch an whatever we've got that we can send you! This will be a great place for you to have your voice heard about how we can make NJ the most vegan friendly place it can be. Proceeds from our Patreon will be going to maintain the website, brand, and afford us to be able to hire on more awesome vegans to help us on our journey to make NJ a vegan wonderland!
