This Week in NJ

September 3, 2018

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in my weekly breakdown.

After a busy few weeks for vegan events in NJ, we are beginning to slow down as school starts and summer comes to an end.  Now the weekends become packed and the weekdays are empty!

Newark Animal Save (a chapter of the Animal Save Movement) is having a vigil and outreach at American Halal in Newark on Thursday morning with Ethically Elizabeth.

This Saturday, Broome Animal Sanctuary is hosting a Vegan Festival at the Town of Broome Fire Department in Livingstonville, NY.  There will be tours of the sanctuary, yoga, food, skincare, and more!  Some NJ favorite vendors will be there, such as Rockin' Raw, Gone Pie, and Fanciful Fox!

Also on Saturday, at Freshii in Flemington is a lunch hosted by NJveg, formerly the Vegetarian Society of NJ.  NJveg is a centrally located social group that specializes in vegan advocacy.  You can view a list of all of their events and get more information about this lunch (and their outreach event at the Red Bank Street Fair on Sunday) on their events page.

Every Sunday, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 4:00 and 5:00.  If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com.

The North Jersey chapters of Anonymous for the Voiceless are hosting an outreach workshop in Butler, NJ on Sunday to answer any questions those interested might have about doing outreach or participating in their events.  This is a great way to meet new activists and pick their brains to help you become more confident in your activism.  You can join the groups for the New Brunswick and Jersey City chapters to keep up to date with their events and learn more.

Plants for Peace is hosting a potluck at Monmouth University at 1pm in the Magill Commons Club.  You must RSVP to mcharris@monmouth.edu, bring a vegan dish (with a list of ingredients) and your own plates/utensils.  Plants for Peace is an organization that puts on a lot of events and potlucks at Monmouth University, so make sure to keep up with their Facebook page to stay in the know!

Vegan in NJ events scheduled (must be a member of the Facebook group to view):

Potluck in Morristown

Vegan in NJ dinner party

Potluck in Neptune Twp

Farm Critter Haven potluck

Thank you to those who came here via the Try Vegan email blast!  If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can learn more about the Try Vegan empire via their meal delivery (use that link for a free meal!), their food truck, or their clothing line!
