This Week in NJ
Is it me, or does 4:00pm feel like 8:00pm now?
Dean's Cafe in Metuchen will be hosting a free Vegan cooking class this Tuesday. Looking to add new plant-based dishes to your Thanksgiving Day menu? Join plant-based health and wellness expert Jessica Jarmer as she shows attendees how to prepare vegan versions of your favorite Thanksgiving foods.
Thursday brings us A Night of Compassion at The Brownstone in Paterson. This will be a casual and festive night of fun and celebration as we recognize the compassion and commitment of animal rescuers, advocates and their dedication to helping people and animals in our local communities. Proceeds from this event will provide essential funding for our important programs. Join us at this very special event and help us make a difference; all while enjoying great food, live music, exciting prizes, and special guests. Tickets are available here.
World Vegan Vision will be hosting Ahimsa - A Vegan Thanksgiving on Friday in NYC. This is a donation only event with a very limited number of seats. Among the speakers will be Dolly Ahuja-Vyas, an activist and producer of the documentary film "Dairy is Not Ahimsa" and Ms Ruchira Gupt, a renowned activist and Gandhi scholar.
A volunteer day at Goats of Anarchy hosted by NJVeg will happen on Saturday. GOA is an award-winning, vegan sanctuary for special-needs baby goats (along with other animal friends that we just have to help). They are a registered charity (501c3) and all tax deductible donations go towards vet fees, food, shelter and prosthetic devices for the baby goats. After putting in all that hard work, reward yourself with lunch at Eureka Plant Based Foods. To follow this, and future GOA volunteer days, check out their event page.
Ethos Farm will have an Open House this Saturday at 1:00pm. Come hear Dr. Weiss speak about Whole Food Plant Based Living to Reverse and Prevent Disease. Registration is required and can be done here.
Anonymous for the Voiceless's Cube of Truth is a peaceful static demonstration akin to an art performance. A demonstration will take place on Saturday night in Rutherford. These demonstrations operate in a structured manner that triggers curiosity and interest from the public; they attempt to lead bystanders to a vegan conclusion through a combination of local standard-practice animal exploitation footage and conversations with a value-based sales approach. Masks, signs, and outreach literature are provided. Black upper clothing appropriate for the weather is essential, and please bring a fully charged laptop or tablet if you have one. Interested in volunteering? Join this Facebook Group!
A outreach hosted by Vegans by the Shore will take place at Hinck's Turkey Farm in Manasquan on Sunday. It is the time of year again where beautiful turkeys are senselessly slaughtered for a holiday meal when there are so many plant based options to have a cruelty-free Thanksliving. Let’s remind folks of that that turkeys are sentient beings by standing up for them in solidarity!
Finally, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 3:00 and 4:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at email@example.com. The Jersey City chapter meets at the Journal Square plaza at noon every Sunday. For donations, contact them via their Facebook page or at firstname.lastname@example.org.

We have started a Patreon page and we would love it if you could donate any amount you could. We will be working on setting up the tiers with more as time goes on, but for right now, you will get access to our feed, where we will be working through ideas and events we plan to host in the future, early blog posts, discount codes for events, and random merch an whatever we've got that we can send you! This will be a great place for you to have your voice heard about how we can make NJ the most vegan friendly place it can be. Proceeds from our Patreon will be going to maintain the website, brand, and afford us to be able to hire on more awesome vegans to help us on our journey to make NJ a vegan wonderland!
