This Week in NJ

Right after Christmas time and my birthday, my third favorite time of the year is here! New Jersey Veg Fest will have their annual 2 day celebration of all things Vegan at the Meadowlands this weekend! Come enjoy delicious food, speakers, vendors and camaraderie with like minded people! Hoping to see you all there!

New Jersey Animal Save and Lakewood NJ Chicken Save plan on being present Thursday at Lakewood's City Council Meeting for a protest of the animal rituals of Kaparos. There will be media presence so the expectation is for everyone to be peaceful and on their best behavior as possible considering the circumstances. More information about the protest can be found here.

Anonymous for the Voiceless's Cube of Truth is a peaceful static demonstration akin to an art performance. A demonstration will take place on Friday evening in New Brunswick. These demonstrations operate in a structured manner that triggers curiosity and interest from the public; they attempt to lead bystanders to a vegan conclusion through a combination of local standard-practice animal exploitation footage and conversations with a value-based sales approach. Masks, signs, and outreach literature are provided. Black upper clothing appropriate for the weather is essential, and please bring a fully charged laptop or tablet if you have one. Interested in volunteering? Join this Facebook Group!

Join NJveg at Goats of Anarchy for a volunteer work day to help with chores around the sanctuary. They will be gathering for lunch afterwards for anyone interested. Space is limited to 10 people. These events fill up quickly, so register soon to secure your spot! If interested please contact us at NJveg.org/rsvp, NJveg.org@gmail.com, or 609-557-7077 (text/voice). The specific address will be provided to confirmed volunteers closer to the event date.

Together, we are better! Goats of Anarchy, Twist of Fate and Rancho Relaxo are joining forces once again to make a more powerful statement to the animal advocacy community! They will have a 5K race this coming Saturday. The funds raised from this 5k will directly help care for hundreds of animals between the three organizations! For more information, and to register, follow this link! Make sure to join the Vegan in NJ team when signing up. You can view our page and donate to our fundraiser here.

May Wah Restaurant invites everyone to come taste their Thanksliving vegan dishes to inspire your own cooking at home! Covering both Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 6 pm, the current vegan tasting menu includes Vegan Whole Chicken, Vegan Pork Belly, Vegan Shrimp Linguini, and more!

God's Creatures Ministry will be hosting a Gentle Thanksgiving Dinner this coming Sunday. There will be a Vegan Thanksgiving Buffet, 50/50 and Tricky Tray! Tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for children 6-12. Proceeds will honor Roberto Bonelli, founder of the Animals' Battalion and activist in getting New York to ban cat declawing. RSVP by November 13 by sending check to God's Creatures Ministry, P.O. Box 3666, Wayne, NJ 07470 or online registration (fees apply).

Finally, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 3:00 and 4:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com. The Jersey City chapter meets at the Journal Square plaza at noon every Sunday. For donations, contact them via their Facebook page or at foodnotbombsjc@gmail.com.

Vegan in NJ events scheduled (*must be a member of the Facebook group to view private events):

If you are hosting an event or know of an event happening that you do not see on our events page, please send an email to cherise@veganinnj.com and I'll add it to the page ASAP and include it in our weekly breakdown.

We have a Patreon page and would love it if you could donate any amount you could. You will get access to our feed, where we will be working through ideas and events we plan to host in the future, early blog posts, discount codes for events, and random merch an whatever we've got that we can send you! This will be a great place for you to have your voice heard about how we can make NJ the most vegan friendly place it can be. Proceeds from our Patreon will be going to maintain the website, brand, and afford us to be able to hire on more awesome vegans to help us on our journey to make NJ a vegan wonderland! We also take some of the donations and donate it back to various vegan non-profits and NJ sanctuaries.

We have also added a 'support us' page, so if you want other ways (besides Patreon) to help us out, please check there. We appreciate anything you can do!
