Australian musicians in NYC will band together to raise money for the animals hurt by the catastrophic Australian Bushfires. It is a disaster for our environment. ONE BILLION ANIMALS have been killed. Over a million hectares burned - that’s habitat lost, and food resources gone. It’s devastating and we MUST help. The concert will take place at Our Wicked Lady, 153 Morgan Ave, Brooklyn. Tickets are available online and donations are accepted if you cannot make it.
Newark Animal Save will be holding a memorial for the animals who have passed through the gates of American Halal Meats in Newark and been killed. There will also be a remembrance of Jill Phipps, a dedicated activist who lost her life on 02/01/95 while trying to stop a truck transporting veal calves for export.
Desired Dish host a 4 Course Vegan Dinners on Thursday at Cross + Orange in Asbury Park. The 6:30 seating is sold out, but tickets are still available (as of the time of this writing) for the 8:00 seating.
Vegan Drinks returns on January 30th! Once again, Marty's V Burger will help kick off the year - with delicious vegan burgers from his cafe. Vegan Drinks is also VERY excited to introduce a new NYC-focused animal rights campaign: Slaughter Free NYC! There are 100 slaughterhouses in NYC and SFNYC plans to SHUT THEM ALL DOWN! Come learn more about this exciting campaign - and what you can do to help! Slaughter Free NYC will receive a portion of all drink sales and 100% of raffle proceeds.
A protest of the dolphin slaughter in Japan will take place on Friday in DC. All signs will be provided and megaphones are encouraged. More info can be found here.
The George St Co-Op will be hosting another Positive Potluck this Friday. Billed as a peaceful and positive potluck gathering of friends, the potluck tradition starts with bringing a little something, and together have a wonderful, varied feast.The Co-op is a vegetarian space, so please bring only vegetarian or vegan foods that are pre-made. You may use the cafe oven to heat up your dish if needed. Please RSVP at least a day or two in advance if possible and bring something to serve at least 5-10 people.
Total Liberation New York is proud to host Rise Up - Shut It Down in New York City in honor of Jill Phipps along with cities around the globe on Saturday, February 1st. Activists are strongly encouraged to attend this event and help send a powerful message to the general public against all animal suffering, while remembering one of our own who paid the ultimate price defending innocent animals by laying down her life. They have a separate vegan menu that includes a tofu buffalo wing appetizer, buffalo tofu wrap, house-made veggie burger, portobello sandwich, Impossible Burger, black bean & guacomole wrap, white bean ravioli, and they will swap out any of the meats on salads for tofu. New Jersey Climate Save Movement will be doing a street clean-up before the Fur Peaceful Protest and Saturday Vigils for Australia in Red Bank. Volunteers are welcome. They will also be holding a street vigil for Australia after the cleanup.
Take a break from the winter blues and cozy up next to your favorite vegan. Marley Meadows Sanctuary will be holding their second annual Winter Break on Sunday at Eclipse Brewing. Join them for the finest drinks, the warmest company, delicious vegan eats, and help raise money for animals who really need your help. There will be a ton of auction items, 50/50 raffle, and more. If any local artists or vegan companies would like to donate something for the auction, please message them. Space is limited and tickets are $10.
On Sunday, please keep Animals First on the Second in mind. This is not an event to attend; rather a monthly day of reflection and remembrance. Each day, millions of farm animals are starved on their way to slaughter. On the second day of every month, fasting is encouraged in protest of the treatment of these sentient beings. Finally, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 3:00 and 4:00.
