This Week in NJ

Hey! It's Valentine's Week! So jump on in to these LOVELY events!

The Old Bridge Town Council will meet this Monday and there will be speakers against the opening of Safari Stan's Per Center. Please attend the town council meeting and show your support for an ordinance banning the retail sale of dogs and cats. If you wish to speak, you must sign your name on the list at the front table before the public comments portion. You are allowed 5 minutes and can say something as simple as, "I support an ordinance banning the retail sale of dogs and cats." If you don't wish to speak, you can show your support by applauding for those who do.

On Tuesday, join PETA outside the Westminster Dog Show daytime judging event to remind attendees that breeders kill shelter dogs chances to find a loving home. Posters and pamphlets will be provided. There will nalson be signs showing the painful physical deformities like that many purebred dogs are forced to live with because of breeders and the AKC.

New Jersey Climate Save Movement will be hosting a free screening of "A Plastic Ocean" Thursday. The screening is open to the public, but registration will be required because seating is limited. Please arrive by 5:45pm; movie will start at 6:00pm. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided. Bring a reusable bottle and bowl for snacks if you have one. We will try to be as zero waste and plastic free as possible.

Viva Vegan with Evangelina's Vegan Desserts will host their Galentine's Day on Thursday . Bring your best girlfriends and learn how to bake a vegan dark chocolate and red wine cupcake. Then you will decorate your cupcakes for your bestie, trade off and enjoy!

On Friday, join NYC Animal Save Movement at their second Valentine's Day Vigil at New Lees Poultry Market. This is a day to bring love and peace to those trapped at New Lees, and not look away from their suffering.

Thank Goodness It's Vegan will host a Valentine's Buffet on Friday. The menu will include 100% plant-based comfort food from appetizers to desserts. BYOB. More infomation can be found here.

There will be a silent demonstration/vigil on Friday evening at Grand Central Station hosted by New York Climate Save and V For Veganism. Participants will silently demonstrate in solidarity with silenced voices around the globe with a message of love for non-humans and humans alike as well as love for Mother Earth.

Tivoni Kitchen & Bakery is planning a romantic Valentine's Day dinner special menu this year. Price is $23/person and meal will include all vegan soup, salad, entree and dessert.

On Friday, gather for Chef Nana Amma’s Valentine dinner event serving a 3 course vegan Ghanaian menu featuring award winning Peanut Butter Soup. The location is private and revealed to attendees on the morning of the event day. A pass is required and seating is limited to 20 guests for this very rare gathering and tasting.

On Saturday, Stop SeaQuest Woodbridge will be protesting to stop SeaQuest from continuing to operate at Woodbridge Mall Center in Woodbridge. Signups and more info can be found on the event page.

Join New Jersey Vegfest for a cozy food festival inside Asbury Park's iconic Convention Hall and for a toasty warm celebration with amazing food, fancy drinks and fun times with awesome people! Tickets $5 in advance, $10 at the door. Doors open at 10am for season pass members and at 11am for ticket holders.

Protest Canada Goose will meet Sunday at Short Hills Mall. Let's wrap up “fur season” by standing in unity for the countless dogs/coyotes harmed in the making of their products.

NJveg will be hosting their first Princeton-based potluck on Sunday. It will take place in the basement Spiritual Center of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. The parking lot and entrance (green “Spiritual Center” sign is next to the entrance; avoid side doors) are in rear of building. A microwave and freezer are available. Volunteers are also needed for cleanup.

Finally, the Jersey Shore chapter of Food Not Bombs will be feeding those in need at the Asbury Park Train Station between 3:00 and 4:00. If you want to donate something, contact them via their Facebook page or by emailing them at jerseyshorefoodnotbombs@yahoo.com. The Jersey City chapter meets at the Journal Square plaza at noon every Sunday. For donations, contact them via their Facebook page or at foodnotbombsjc@gmail.com.

Proceeds from our Patreon will be going to maintain the website, brand, and afford us to be able to hire on more awesome vegans to help us on our journey to make NJ a vegan wonderland! We also take some of the donations and donate it back to various vegan non-profits and NJ sanctuaries.
